The new NSBTM website is officially launched! Thank you to all who contributed to the website's development.
The practice of the therapeutic musician is to use the intrinsic healing elements of live music and sound to provide an environment conducive to the human healing process. Certified Therapeutic Musicians are trained to offer music that benefits patients in the realms of comfort, pain management, vitals stabilization, end-of-life transition, and more. They use their training to thoughtfully adjust their style of playing to suit the needs of the patient in each moment.
The National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians (NSBTM) is a non-profit accrediting board for therapeutic music certification programs. The board is comprised of leaders in the therapeutic music field who have joined together to develop and maintain standards for therapeutic musician training programs and their graduates.
The NSBTM defines the Courses of Study, Scope of Practice, Code of Ethics and other rules of conduct for the certified therapeutic musician.
The NSBTM defines and upholds the educational standards for training programs for Certified Therapeutic Musicians.
